So let me highlight the storage elements in her room. So you can see the system that we have made. I will start with the exiting things and then the ones we added to help The Girl make better use of them.
The Hat Rack
This was something I had sitting around, I got it to use when I was a teen and pulled it out again when we moved to our home for The Girl to use for her dress up things, they were over flowing so we cut it back to just the hats.
The Toy Storage
This white toy box sits at the foot of her bed, next to it is a wooden tool box I made about 10 years ago to store her wooden blocks. In the closet we have three plastic storage tubs one for mega blocks, one for toys with lots of small parts, (noah's ark set, etc.) and one for her wooden trains and cars.
And we have the Tub a big red plastic tub that has had toys dumped in to it since... at least 1992 when it lived in my little brothers' room in our home in Pennsylvania.
So those are what we had. We also had a large brown dresser that was given to me used when I was pregnant with The Girl. It is a good dresser and has moved with us 4 times now, but it did not have wheeled drawer slides and as it was getting on in years it takes a bit of force and finagling (say that 10 times fast) to get the drawers open or closed. Which The Girl just could not do.
Sooo... We bought her a new dresser. Which she picked out and it has much nicer drawers. I was worried as it is smaller that it would hold less clothes but that does not actually seem to be the case. Which I am very happy with.
One other thing we did for Clothes storage was we bought a hanging closet bar that hangs off the closet bar adding a lower bar to hang more clothes from this puts it right at her level and we are putting her school uniform on it as well as having her pick out clothing for the week that will be hung there with each day labled so she does not need to dig though drawers and leave unwanted clothes on the floor.
We bought her a wardrobe as well not, if you will remember my initial thought for extra toy storage but it was a great deal ($25 down from $45, as opposed to the $65 for the units I was thinking about before) And it has dress up clothes storage which we really needed! It has pockets on the exterior as well which I painted with regular acrylic paint (as the fabric was just this side of being a sheet of plastic).
Each of the big pockets got labeled with the type of toy that was to go in it and the smaller ones just got pictures.
I did label one secret as I want this system to grow with her and dolls and puppets will not always be a priority so I added something she could make just hers.
Remember that surprise I mentioned if time and money allowed? Well God is good and there was just the right shade of super hot pink "raspberry fizz" paint on the Ooops! table for $5. So I painted the top of her closet to add just a punch of her favorite color into the room.
I also echoed this color just above the door to her room with a little "mural". I am pleased to say she loved it!
So here are a few panoramic shots of her room as it is now.
Of the bed
Of the other side and closet
So that was my W.O.W. We will see if she is able to keep it cleaner but I think it will work better than our old system by far. And it has enabled another goal of mine, I am going to use her old dresser to store cloth in my soon to be sewing room, maybe I can get that tackled next week.

I love the changes you made! You tailored it for her in a creative, personalized manner. I especially like your vision in putting together the wardrobe--not only is it practical, but what kid wouldn't want a "wardrobe" in their room once they read LWW? And the mural was a lovely touch too!
You did a fabulous job! You should feel so proud of yourself and look at all you accomplished while also caring for a sick household and digging out of a snow storm!!! Way to go girlie!!!
Fantastic Sweetheart! You did a great job. Very proud of you, as always!
Great Job! You did a lot of work last week.
Thank you so much for playing along this week and for all of the inspiration. I think my next project will need to be my youngest daughter's room. : )
Could you email me your mailing address so I can send you a Starbucks card? You need to celebrate all of your hard work. : )
